Master Deep-Sky
Astrophotography
A structured four-module pathway for people who already own a telescope, star tracker or small equatorial mount and want to learn how to use it properly — from setup and polar alignment to acquisition, stacking and final image processing.
Start with one module, or take the full pathway
The modules are designed to work individually, but the strongest value comes from following the complete sequence: prepare the rig, capture better data, calibrate and stack it properly, then process it into a finished image.
Available in Luxembourgish, German, English and Italian. Suitable for telescope users and camera users working with a star tracker or small equatorial mount.
A practical pathway built around your own equipment
Telescope users, star-tracker users and small equatorial mount setups.
Fixed-tripod beginners looking for a first casual introduction to night photography.
You want practical support with polar alignment, guiding, acquisition, stacking or processing.
From setup to finished image
Book one module according to your current level, or follow the complete progression for the strongest result.
Setup, Assembly & Polar Alignment
Build a stable imaging system and prepare it correctly before serious acquisition begins.
What we cover
- Mount, tripod, telescope, camera, focuser, guider, controller and power chain.
- Safe assembly order, mechanical stability and protection of sensitive parts.
- Balancing in right ascension and declination where relevant.
- Cable management to prevent drag, snags and disconnections.
- Polar alignment, focusing and core acquisition settings.
Guiding & Data Acquisition
Learn how to capture cleaner and more consistent data once the rig is correctly prepared.
What we cover
- What guiding does and when it becomes useful or necessary.
- Guiding setup logic: calibration, corrections, parameters and behaviour checks.
- Sub-exposure strategy based on target, focal length, filters and sky quality.
- Calibration-frame habits: darks, flats, bias or offset frames.
- Troubleshooting star elongation, drift, software issues, cables and dew.
Data Review, Calibration & Stacking
Turn a night’s capture into a clean working image by sorting, calibrating and combining data properly.
What we cover
- Reviewing raw data and identifying usable and unusable frames.
- Frame rejection: focus errors, trailing, clouds, gradients and guiding failures.
- Calibration workflow with lights, darks, flats and bias or offset frames.
- Stacking logic: alignment, integration and signal improvement.
- Gradient correction, background control and first colour balance.
Stretching & Post-Processing Workflow
Transform a calibrated image into a balanced final result with more control and less guesswork.
What we cover
- What stretching does and why linear data needs careful handling.
- Progressive stretching while protecting highlights and background balance.
- Contrast development, tonal control and colour refinement.
- Noise handling with restraint and technical credibility.
- Star management, local adjustments and finishing decisions.
Capture better. Process smarter.
The pathway connects field technique with processing discipline, so your final image is not just more beautiful, but also technically stronger.

Astrophotography with real field experience
Nightwise combines astronomy education, practical night-sky experience and real deep-sky imaging practice from Luxembourg. The goal is not to overwhelm you with theory, but to help you build a workflow you can repeat.
Based on your gear
Training is adapted to your telescope, mount, tracker, camera, software and current level of autonomy.
Luxembourg & Éislek focus
Sessions are built around realistic local conditions: weather, light pollution, dark-sky opportunities and field logistics in Luxembourg.
Complete workflow
The pathway connects the full chain: setup, acquisition, calibration, stacking, stretching and finishing.
Practical problem-solving
We focus on the issues that actually ruin sessions: poor balance, weak polar alignment, bad flats, cable drag, dew, drift and over-processing.
Before you book
Do I need a telescope?
You can attend with a telescope-based rig, a DSLR or mirrorless camera on a star tracker, or a small equatorial mount. The course is not aimed at fixed-tripod-only photography.
Can I book only one module?
Yes. Each module can be booked individually at the launch price of €250. The full four-module pathway is available for €899 instead of €1,200.
Where does the course take place?
Delivery can be indoor, outdoor or mixed depending on the module, weather, season and participant objectives. Practical sessions can be adapted to locations in Luxembourg, with a strong focus on realistic local observing conditions.
Which languages are available?
Sessions are available in Luxembourgish, German, English and Italian.
Is this suitable after a beginner workshop?
Yes. This is designed as the next step after an introductory night photography workshop, especially if you now own a tracker, mount or telescope and want to move into serious deep-sky imaging.
Can I bring my own files?
Yes. For the calibration, stacking and processing modules, bringing your own light frames and calibration frames is strongly recommended. This makes the session much more useful and specific to your workflow.
