Frequently Asked Questions
A practical guide to our night-sky experiences, private events, educational workshops, astro-tourism projects and light pollution awareness work.
What does Nightwise do?
Nightwise creates astronomy experiences, guided stargazing events, educational workshops, astrophotography activities, exhibitions and light pollution awareness projects. We work with private groups, families, schools, companies, municipalities, tourism actors and public institutions.
What can I contact you for?
You can contact us for private stargazing, family activities, school workshops, corporate events, astro-tourism projects, exhibitions, public talks, light pollution awareness campaigns, media enquiries and collaborations linked to the night environment.
Do you organise private stargazing experiences?
Yes. We organise private night experiences for couples, families, groups of friends, birthdays, team events and special occasions. The format can be adapted to the group, the location, the season and the level of astronomical knowledge.
Where do your activities take place?
Most activities take place in Luxembourg, but we can also work across the Greater Region. The exact location depends on the type of event, safety, accessibility, sky visibility, light pollution levels and the practical needs of the group.
Can you come to our chosen location?
Often, yes. We can assess a proposed location and advise whether it is suitable. For astronomy activities, we look at horizon visibility, artificial light, safety, access, parking, terrain and the possibility of setting up telescopes or educational material.
How far in advance should we contact you?
The earlier the better, especially for private events, schools, municipalities and larger collaborations. Astronomy activities depend on the season, Moon phase, weather and location, so advance planning helps us propose the right format and possible dates.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the activity depends on the sky and the conditions are unsuitable, we will discuss the best option with you. Depending on the event type, this can include rescheduling, adapting the programme indoors or applying the weather policy agreed during booking.
Can an event still happen if it is cloudy?
Some events can be adapted with talks, simulations, workshops, digital astronomy tools or light pollution activities. For telescope observation, however, we need sufficiently clear skies. We always try to keep the experience meaningful rather than forcing a poor observing session.
Are your experiences suitable for beginners?
Yes. Most of our activities are designed for people who are curious but do not necessarily have previous astronomy knowledge. We explain the sky in a clear, accessible and scientifically accurate way, without unnecessary jargon.
Are your activities suitable for children and families?
Yes. We create family-friendly formats with simple sky orientation, storytelling based on science, hands-on activities, binocular observation and age-appropriate explanations. For children’s activities, we adapt the pace, duration and content to the group.
Do you work with schools?
Yes. We offer school workshops, astronomy sessions, science communication activities, light pollution awareness modules, exhibitions and project-based collaborations. Activities can be adapted to different age groups and educational objectives.
Do you work with municipalities and public institutions?
Yes. We support municipalities, nature parks, cultural centres and public organisations with astronomy outreach, public events, light pollution awareness, night-sky interpretation, sustainable astro-tourism concepts and educational material.
Can you help with astro-tourism or dark-sky projects?
Yes. We can help design visitor experiences, observation sites, interpretative content, guided programmes and awareness campaigns that value the night-time environment while respecting biodiversity, landscape quality and responsible lighting principles.
Do you offer corporate or team-building events?
Yes. We can create relaxed and original astronomy-based events for teams, including guided stargazing, night walks, digital telescope experiences, science talks and reflective activities around perspective, exploration and our relationship with the night.
Do you offer astrophotography workshops?
Yes. We offer astrophotography workshops and mentoring, from beginner-friendly introductions to more advanced sessions. Depending on the format, we can cover planning, equipment, acquisition, tracking, guiding, calibration, processing and creative choices.
Do I need my own telescope or camera?
No for most guided experiences. We normally bring the equipment needed for the activity. If you already have a telescope, binoculars, camera or mount, you are welcome to tell us in advance so we can advise how to integrate it into the session.
What equipment do you use during observations?
Depending on the format, we may use telescopes, binoculars, digital telescopes, sky maps, educational material, light pollution tools and astrophotography equipment. The setup is chosen according to the target audience, location and sky conditions.
What can we observe?
Visible targets depend on the season, Moon phase, time of night and sky quality. Possible highlights include the Moon, planets, bright stars, constellations, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, the Milky Way and occasional events such as meteor showers or eclipses.
How long does an activity last?
It depends on the format. Short workshops or talks can last around one hour, while private night experiences, walks and observation sessions often last two to four hours. Larger public events or institutional projects can be designed as half-day, evening or multi-session formats.
What should participants bring?
For outdoor night activities, we usually recommend warm layers, comfortable shoes, water, and a small red-light torch if available. Even in summer, nights can feel cold when standing still under the sky.
Are your activities accessible?
We try to make our activities as accessible as possible, but accessibility depends strongly on the location and format. Tell us about any mobility, sensory or practical needs in advance, and we will suggest the most suitable setup.
Which languages do you speak?
We can communicate and run activities in several languages, including English, French, Italian, German and Luxembourgish. Availability can depend on the team member leading the specific activity.
Do you cover astrology?
No. Nightwise focuses on astronomy, science communication, environmental awareness, astrophotography and the cultural value of the night sky. We do not offer astrology or horoscope-based activities.
Can the content be customised?
Yes. We can adapt the activity to your audience, theme, venue, age group, learning objectives, timing and budget. This is especially useful for schools, municipalities, companies, festivals and tourism partners.
How much does an activity cost?
Costs depend on the format, duration, preparation time, location, equipment, number of instructors and whether the activity is private, educational, public or institutional. Contact us with your idea and we will propose the most appropriate option.
Can you provide an official quote or invoice?
Yes. For schools, companies, municipalities, institutions and larger private bookings, we can prepare a clear offer or concept proposal and provide the relevant invoicing details.
What information should I include in my message?
Please include the type of activity you have in mind, preferred date or period, approximate number of participants, location, language, audience type, age range if relevant, and any practical constraints. This helps us reply with a useful proposal.
What is the fastest way to reach you?
For a quick first contact, you can call one of the phone numbers above. For bookings, collaborations and detailed requests, email is usually best because you can include dates, location, group size and the type of activity you are considering.
